Marvelous Ora #1 from Ora Swiss Watch

March 12th, 2010

Firstly, I do admit that I have mistaken “Ora” for “Oris” when I received the press release from the company. I apologize for this.

Get down to business. The Ora Swiss Watch company is a family-owned, upmarket watch brand. It designs and produces its remarkable timepieces in Ticino on the shores of Lake Maggiore in southern Switzerland. As is known to people in the industry, Ticino is a region that demonstrates the outcome of melting southern charm and culture with nothern traditions. It is a place where ideas come into reality.

The newest attractive model proudly presented by the company is this pictured Ora #1. Bearing the name steming from an Italian word, meaning “time”, “hour” and “now”, this chronograph, first of all, astonishes us with its extraordinary shape. Finished with eight titanium screws, the case and dial are sculptured from a single piece of titanium. This patented, fancy touch will certainly go beyond imagination of many people, including me. We know that such a fabulous idea needs a perfect combination of excellent craftsmanship, precise technology and high quality, to come into reality. The Ora#1 (I like this name) boasts water-resistance to 50 meters and is shielded with AR-coated sapphire crystals top and bottom.

Animating the watch is a self-winding Ora P700 calibre, specially developed from the Valjoux 7753 movement. The transparent sapphire crystal allows to admire the fine craftsmanship of this rhodium-plated, sophisticated movement: a circular-grained plate, PVD Cotes de Geneva bridges, and a tungsten monobloc rotor in ceramic ball bearings with a diamond-set 18kt rose gold logo. This movement sports the chronograph functions of hours, minutes and small seconds counters, located at 6, 3 and 9 o’clock correspondingly.

At last, you can make your choice between a a natural rubber strap or a black, hand-sewn alligator leather strap, to add the final touch to this marvelous time instrument.
