I love this watch’s stylish design full of the characteristic look and feel of the nineteen sixties. Stylish in a retro-modern way, the new Glashutte Original Senator Sixties Panorama Date watch features vintage German design from the 1960s, reflecting the era and stands apart in a world of its own. It is really elegant and independent. To mark the most exciting and intriguing decade of the 20th century, the watch emblems a true tribute to the spirit of the times.

As a distinctive fusion of the peerless excellence and traditional mechanical horology, the Senator Sixties Panorama Date timepiece presents Glashutte Original’s first masterpiece for the year of 2010. Its superbly evocative ‘vintage sixties’ design still wins our admiration today. The “big date” complication has been applied in the new watch. As you can see in the picture, two large discs in the lower center part of the dial are employed to tell the date instead of one. The watch has two variations: 42mm stainless steel case with the pictured silver dial or a galvanized black dial.

The satin-finished silver model presents black Arabic numerals, rose gold baton hour, minute and seconds hands and diamond-cut hour markers; the date is presented in black numerals on a white ground. The black-dial version features silver Arabic numerals, white gold hands, diamond-cut hour markers and the date in white on black. On the front and back are both sapphire crystals, and the water-resistance is 30 meters.

The sapphire-crystal caseback reveals a truly admirable masterpiece of Glashutte Original precision watchmaking – Glashütte three-quarter plate with stripe finish, skeletonized rotor with 21-ct gold oscillation weight, swan-neck fine adjustment. It is the Glashutte Original in-house made Calibre 39-47 that serves for the movement. The watch is complemented with a finely-worked black Louisiana Alligator leather strap, demonstrating the extraordinary period’s iconic simple elegance.

The Glashutte Original Senator Sixties Panorama Date watch will be officially released in March. The estimated price goes to $10,000.
