Linde Werdelin 3-Timer White Limited Edition for Women

August 31st, 2010

All watches from Linde Werdelin remain true to the brand DNA, which makes it no difficulty at all to recognize the watch even without a glance at the company’s logo. The new Linde Werdelin Limited Edition, marking the brand’s very first ladies watch, is definitely no exception. Released in a limited edition of 51 pieces worldwide , the Linde Werdelin White Watch is nothing short of stunning, looking tough and delicate at the same time.

nEO_IMG_Linde-Werdelin-white-3-timer-fr.jpg

It is widely acknowledged the young company have a strong, clear vision of how their timepieces should look and function, and they adhere to it religiously. The new watch, probably nothing new for some fastidious watch experts, should not be expected to be different dramatically from the design cues of their core 3-Timer collection. The result suggests that it is most certainly a conscious decision on the behalf of the brand’s founders, Morten Linde and Jorn Werdelin, who have worked incredibly hard to build a strong identity for their young company. To reinforce this point Linde, LW’s Creative Director, states simply that; “I am very pleased that our designs although male marketed are appealing to women as well. Maintaining the brand’s DNA is very important for LW and The White Watch is no exception.”

The enchanting novelty comes with a steel case, featuring the dimensions of 46 mm x 49 mm x 12 mm, offset by a 24-hour bidirectional turning bezel. It securely holds a 2.2 mm sapphire crystal, treated with anti-reflective coating. The black galvanic sanitized dial reveals 12 rhodium-plated applied indexes and sleek diamond-cut rhodium-plated hands. To stress the feminine status, the white calfskin chosen for the new model has a reduced width which allows the watch to sit well on slender wrists. With white as the dominating colour the dial and calfskin strap match the details in colour.

At the heart of the LW Limited Edition is an ETA 2893 – A2 mechanical self-winding movement , which provides a power reserve of 42 hours. This caliber drives basic hours, minutes and seconds indications. Additionally, it animates the function of date, presented in the aperture at 4 o’clock, as well as the second time-zone, indicated by a 24-hour centralized hand.

The Linde Werdelin White Watch is a sexy, tough and just downright cool piece for an intelligent, active woman with discerning tastes which does not compromise on the brand’s core offering.

August 27th, 2010

Girard-Perregaux presents a new Limited Edition Vintage 1945 watch for New York watch lovers who are in the perennial search of gorgeous vintage stuff. Though proposed with a classy style, the watch by no means simply reminds the pastness of the past, as it features the finest contemporary craftsmanship from one of the world’s most prestigious watchmaker.

Girard-Perregaux-Vintage-1945-New-York-LE-1.jpg

The zest of the Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 New York Limited Edition is the “NY”, short for “New York”, found at 12 o’clock, having replaced the original numeral of the typical dial featured by GP Vintage 1945 watches. The dial is made from the rare “Grand Feu” black enamel, demonstrating easy to read hands and indexes as well as a nice splash of red. Alongside with hours and minutes, the dial also indicates small seconds in a propeller-shaped counter located at 7 o’clock. It is joined by a power reserve indicator and a subsidiary date.

Strictly limited to 10 pieces, the special edition watch highlights an 18carat white gold 36mm x 37mm case. The heart of the watch is the in-house made Girard-Perregaux Calibre GP1900. The 29-jewel movement, beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour, provides a 46-hour power reserve.

The watch is exclusively available at Girard-Perregaux’s newer Madison Avenue boutique store, with a price high enough to make most watch enthusiasts yell.

Frederique Constant Joins Hands with Cohiba Cigars

August 23rd, 2010

cohibabox.jpg

It is thought to be a win-win combination that Frederique Constant joins hands with the universally known cigar maker Cohiba for a limited edition watch and humidor. Presented in a giftbox that doubles as a humidor, and are produced in a very limited edition of 188 pieces in stainless steel and 188 pieces in rose gold plated steel . Imagine that a fresh tobacco smell is imparted upon your watch every time you take it out of the humidor. How fascinating it would be!

cohibabox1.jpg

The Frederique Constant Cohiba limited edition is proposed with a case inspired by the “Toro” shaped cigars. It reveals a warm, ivory colored dial, complemented with Roman numerals in tobacco brown. Strikingly placed at the 12 o’clock are the logos of the two brands. There seems an awkward intersection of the logo and the numeral “XI”. But for a holistic point, it can not prevent the watch from being a pretty good creation.

cohiba2.jpg

The movement for the watch is still unknown. As for the price, these limited edition sets (watch + humidor) are phenomenally priced at $1,750 for the Rose Gold Plated version (FC-325CW4C24) and $1,650 for the steel version. Frederique Constant and Cohiba will be launching these exclusive timepieces during a dedicated event on September 22nd, 2010 at Club Macanudo in New York City.

The case is also equipped with a screw-in crown, embossed with the LW logo. It is capable of withstanding water pressures down to 300 meters.

3-Timer_Racing_Series_yellow_1.jpg

What impresses me the most is still the imposing dial, framed by a 24-hour bidirectional turning bezel, polished on the facets. It shows off silver print 12 rhodium-plated applied indexes, joined by diamond cut rhodium-plated hands which are treated with Superluminova material. There is also a date aperture nestled at 4 o’clock. To protect this alluring dial, the designers fixed a 2.2mm glare-proof sapphire crystal above the watch’s face. The cool red or yellow accents on the bezel, case and strap demonstrate what really sets the special edition apart from other models.

The Linde Werdelin 3-Timer Racing Singapore Special Edition is bulit around a self-winding mechanical ETA 2893 – A2 movement. It offers a 42-hour power reserve. The strap is from black perforated calfskin with red or yellow details & stitching and a steel ardillon buckle.

Known as the Grand Maison in today’s watchmaking industry, Jaeger-LeCoultre has created countless calibers, patents and collections. Even among all these horological marvels by the first true Vallée de Joux watch manufacture, no one can deny that the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Memovox Dive Alarm watch is the one that stands out the most. An inexhaustible source of inspiration for the creative talents at work in the Manufacture, the Memovox Polaris has been regarded as the epitome of the sports watch for the past few years. It is fiercely coveted by collectors.

nEO_IMG_Jaeger-LeCoultre-Polaris-Dive-Alarm.jpg

The original version was first launched in the mid 1960′s, in a limited edition of 1,700 pieces. In order to meet the specific demands of the American market, the first to show an interest, the Memovox was christened Polaris after the famous American missiles symbolising the Western strike force during the Cold War. But this name mostly echoed the adventurous spirit of the 1960s, distinguished by a determination to travel ever faster and further, in an era when the public at large was fascinated by the space race, ocean discoveries and polar exploration. Its powerful design, dynamic form and blend of performance and energy continue to pervade all the Jaeger-LeCoultre sporting models to this day: from the Master Compressor Memovox to the AMVOX, as well as the all-new Master Compressor Diving watches.

nEO_IMG_15164-v.jpg

There are many types of dial and hands available for the Polaris, according to the markets for which the certain model is intended. In 2008, Jaeger-LeCoultre honours this legendary model by creating two Memovox Tribute to Polaris replicas. Each is a nod to one of the milestones in the history of this icon watch: the first corresponds to the original Memovox Polaris as launched in 1965; while the second is the most famous of them all, created in 1968.

nEO_IMG_15164-i.jpg

In today’s market, a Polaris can start as low as $13,000 for a stainless steel re-edition all the way up to $29,000 for a platinum re-edition. As for the original edition – circa 1960, it is available with the price of $17,000 for a steel model.

Eterna Heritage Super KonTiki Diver Limited Edition 1973

August 15th, 2010

In addition to the retained Heritage Pulsometer Chronograph Limited Edition launched this year, Eterna has also released the beautiful Heritage Super KonTiki Limited Edition 1973 watch, a redesigned version of the Super KonTiki diver’s watch introduced back in 1973.

nEO_IMG_eternakontiki.jpg

The original model as well as the new piece highlights an engraving of the raft on the case back. This touch stems from the inspiration of a voyage across the Pacific to the Polynesian islands led by explorer Thor Heyerdahl in 1947. The raft from balsa wood was built by the explorer and his team and was named KonTiki.

While maintaining the tonneau shape of the case of its predecessor, the new Eterna watch is a little larger than the initial model, measuring 44mm in its diameter. The stainless steel case is completed with a rotating diver’s bezel. It presents a legible dial complemented with the signature hour and minute hands, which have been differently shaped to make them more readable underwater. Along with a seconds hand that looks like a large needle, the applied hour markers are treated with SuperLuminova coating. The watch’s face is shielded by an AR-coated sapphire crystal and the water resistance is down to 200 meters.

eternakontiki1.jpg

Beating inside the watch is a reliable Swiss automatic ETA caliber 2824-2 with 25 jewels, 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 38 hours. Finishing the watch is a mesh bracelet provided with a diving extension. The Eterna Heritage Super KonTiki 1973 will be limited to 1973 pieces worldwide, and available for the price of 2,950 Swiss Francs/2,175 Euros.

nEO_IMG_eternapulso.jpg
