TW Steel has created a special edition for Dario Franchitti, and launched the watch last weekend with a cocktail event in Indianapolis. The celebration hosted more than 150 guests, including Franchitti, IndyCar star Scott Dixon, and IndyCar legend Arie Luyendyk.
Dario Franchitti is a successful IndyCar champion race driver. The TW Steel Dario Franchitti Edition watch has been created as a tribute to the remarkable career of Dario Franchitti, the two-time IndyCar Series Champion and 2007 Indianapolis 500 winner. The watch incorporates red, green and blue, which make up Franchitti’s helmet colors, to reflect the Scottish and Italian flags that symbolize his heritage. The 10 in red represents the number Franchitti wore during his 2009 IndyCar season and the 2 and 7 in green stand for his number he wore during his Indy500 win in 2007. By the way, the blue signature “Franchitti” at 1 o’clock soars the grade for the whole design.

The watch is of outstanding multifunctionality, as the dial looks busy with subdials and the date window, as well as the tachymeter ring. I don’t know exactly about the movement ticking inside the watch, but it is surely of adorable reliablity and stability.
As TW Steel is famous for its oversized watches, the Dario Franchitti edition is available in 45mm and 48mm sizes, absolutely larger than today’s standards. The watch will start on sale in mid-july with suggested retail prices of $850 (45mm) and $895 (48mm).
